If you have yet to get it done, you might want to hit up Molten Core in the next week or so. The 10th anniversary celebration for World of Warcraft officially ends on January 5, 2015 — and both Molten Core’s 40-man LFR experience, as well as the Southshore vs. Tarren Mill PvP battleground will be taking their leave. Completing Molten Core will earn you an ilvl 640 epic helm as well as the Core Hound Chain that will give you a Corehound of your very own to ride — but there’s also a chance to pick up Hatespark the Tiny, a new Battle Pet, and the Flames of Ragnaros, a special cosmetic item that will give your weapon a fiery glow.

As for the battleground, winning a battle on either Alliance or Horde side will net you an achievement as well as a special account-wide title, Southshore Slayer, or Tarren Mill Terror. To queue for Molten Core, you’ll need an ilvl of 615, but that’s relatively easy to get at level 100. Once the anniversary event is over, these items and achievements will no longer be available — so you’ll want to get a move on if you want to collect and complete them all before they’re gone for good.

Recently, Tencent Games announced that the no-limit test phase for Call of Duty Online, scheduled to start on 11th January 2015.

The China-exclusive Call of Duty game also nabbed “Captain America”, Chris Evans, as the new spokesperson, as seen in the teaser trailer below. Looks like the American love ain’t lost, given how a competitor previously epic-failed.

The official full-length trailer will be revealed at a later date. I guess “Captain America” isn’t tired enough with all the shootings for the Marvel movies. The trailer was apparently shot in Taiwan, not China. Call of Duty Online is currently in-development by Raven Software, the studio which made the the multiplayer modes for Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

As is the case with any League of Legends champion, what matters is not just who you’re using, but also how you use them. This is especially the case for Velkoz, the popular Ability Power-based Mage.

One way you can get the most out of Velkoz is by building him so that you maximize Cooldown Reduction. If you reduce the duration of your spell cooldowns by the maximum of 40 percent, you’ll be able to use your spells much more often than usual. You’ll be a bigger threat overall.

With that in mind, here is our recommended Cooldown Reduction build for Velkoz. Of course, you should start out with basic boots, and probably some health and mana potions. Eventually, convert those to Sorcerer’s Shoes, which increase your movement speed, and provide you with an extra 15 Magic Pentration. After that, here’s what you should build.

By starting out with Athene’s Unholy Grail, you’re already halfway home because it gives you 20 percent Cooldown Reduction. Plus, it offers other very useful attributes, including mana regeneration, magic resist, and 60 Ability Power.

Morellonomicon

Now to finish off the process of maxing out Cooldown Reduction. By combining Morellonomicon with Athene’s Unholy Grail, you double your reduction from 20 percent to 40 percent. Plus, Morellonomicon also gives you 80 Ability Power, and increased mana regeneration as well.

By taking care of Cooldown Reduction with just two items, you can focus on building up your damage with the final two vacant item slots, which brings us to our next item.
Rabadon’s Deathcap

Now that you’re already well on your way to maxing out Cooldown Reduction, this is the time to invest in an item that will provide you with the ability to deal heavy damage. Say hello to Rabadon’s Deathcap, which gives you 120 Ability Power, and increases your Ability Power by 30 percent on top of that.

Simply put, this is one of the most powerful items a mage can get in League of Legends.

Void Staff

By now, you and any other mages on your team should be dealing plenty of damage. In fact, the opposing team might try to counter you by building items with heavy magic resistance. That’s why you should get Void Staff now, which provides you with 70 Ability Power, and 35 percent Magic Penetration.

By getting Void Staff, you virtually ensure that no amount of magic resist will prevent you from dealing substantial amounts of damage.

Liandry’s Torment

We recommend Liandry’s Torment here for the same reason. This item gives you 50 Ability Power, an additional 15 Magic Penetration, 300 Health, along with a damage-over-time effect equating to two percent of an enemy champion’s current health, and four percent against enemies champions whose movement is impaired.

The extra health gives you a bit more survivability.

By combining all of these items, you give yourself the maximum amount of Cooldown Reduction possible, 35 percent Magic Penetration, 30 Magic Penetration, and enough Ability Power to tear through all but the tankiest champions.

Earlier this week, we reported that the Dark Souls-inspired action RPG Lords of the Fallen would be arriving on mobile.

New information from CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski, made in a statement to Joystiq, clarifies that this is not a full port of the console and desktop version, but rather, a “brand new” experience.

“I’d also like to offer some new information – we’re currently working on a mobile game that takes place in the Lords of the Fallen universe, which we’re aiming to launch on iOS and Android in 2015. It will not be a straight port of the game though, but rather a brand new Lords of the Fallen experience. More details on that are still to come.”

If you want to familiarize yourself with Lords of the Fallen before its mobile follow-up arrives, you can purchase it on Steam for PC, currently 50% off during the Winter Sale.

For its more-than-10-year existence, World of Warcraft has operated in two parallel economies: the in-game economy of gold exchanged for items, and the real-world economy of dollars (or others hard currencies) exchanged for monthly game time subscriptions. Now, Blizzard says it’s considering bringing those two economies together through some sort of exchange in 2015.

“We’re exploring the possibility of giving players a way to buy tradable game-time tokens for the purpose of exchanging them in-game with other players for gold,” Blizzard writes in a preview of next year’s World of Warcraft plans. “Our current thought on this is that it would give players a way to use their surplus gold to cover some of their subscription cost, while giving players who might have less play time an option for acquiring gold from other players through a legit and secure system.” Blizzard goes on to say that many players have expressed interest in the feature and that the developers “agree it could be a good fit for the game.” Read More →

Season’s Greedings! Larfleeze is up to his no-good-holiday-shenanigans again. During this year’s winter seasonal event, take on his Orange Lantern Corp minions in the open world or confront the nefarious thief in a special boss fight. Stop him, and you can earn yourself some holiday cheer and presents of your own. Previous years’ feats and rewards are back, in addition to new base items, styles, a feat, and collection.

Dragon’s Prophet: Now through Jan. 15, 2015

The Silver Dragon Festival is a time for family and friends to gather in celebration of the winter season and the forthcoming New Year’s festivities. It’s a time to enjoy the warmth of good food and pure wine, performances and songs praising the deeds of the dragon dance, and share gifts with one another to help bless the New Year. Unfortunately, this year’s Silver Dragon Festival has fallen prey to the misdeeds of a group of goblins and giants who plan to steal the dragon gifts. In order to bring peace to the festivities, it’s up to the good people to come together and put a stop to the goblins and giants. In true holiday spirit though, the Great Dragons don’t want to see any killing in the struggle, so the people must use the “snow gift of light” and make snowballs and snowmen to restore peace.
